ABOUT US The Oakland Builders Alliance (OBA) was formed in late 2007 as a non-profit organization focused on the economic growth and revitalization of Oakland, and to advocate for the needs of the building trades people and professionals of Oakland. We are a membership-based organization whose members are building trades people and professionals, including contractors and subcontractors, small- and medium-builders, architects, engineers, brokers, agents, and others who live, or do a significant portion of their work, in Oakland. The founders of the OBA are individuals in the building trades who want to see Oakland become a vibrant, thriving city that is able to meet the needs of its residents by increasing the sources of revenue to the budget from smart growth, and infill development. The OBA achieves its goals through the promotion and development of innovative policies, through supporting leaders that promote economic growth in Oakland, and through direct organizing in support of leaders and policies that address the needs of our members and the broad building community of Oakland. Oakland needs to increase its revenue if it is to provide the programs and services needed by its residents and create a safe and vibrant city. The building industry of Oakland, represented by the OBA, will be responsible for creating much of this revenue and must therefore be an important voice in decision-making.
